Job Description Summary

The Commercial Technical Manager (CTM) supports the Business Unit (BU) in technical, commercial, scientific, and medical veterinary areas. The CTM supports and works in close collaboration with marketing, sales and regulatory affairs. The CTM provides scientific support and interacts with internal and external customers in order to achieve the commercial targets for the organization on a cluster level.


Job Description and Responsibilities

Interaction with external customers and industry stakeholders:

  • Builds and maintains business relationships with targeted customers, NTS’s (non-traditional stakeholders e.g., breeder and shelter associations, 3rd party re-sellers/distributors), KOLs and authorities and ensures customer satisfaction, trust and loyalty to the company and its products in order to meet or exceed annual sales objectives
  • Supports regulatory managers (local and regional) and / or DPOCS (designated point of contacts) in handling PV cases, communications concerning products and other regulatory issues for which expertise in technical, scientific, and medical veterinary knowledge is required.
  • Scientific support to clinics and KOL’s
  • Diagnostic support on the clinic
  • Creates the communication towards customers into product related topics
  • Ensures scientific education and training

Interaction with the scientific community / KOLs:

  • Identifies important KOL’s and develops customized plans for each: including regular visits or remote engagements with the aim of supporting the commercial strategy
  • Ensures scientific education and training
  • Initiates, organizes and runs scientific events with KOLs and other key stakeholders (advisory boards, expert meetings, focus groups …).

Interaction with internal customers:

  • Develops and delivers high-quality scientific training to Customer Engagement Managers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Cooperates and contributes to the development and execution of the strategic and tactical marketing activities by taking into account the feedback from customers, the scientific product data, the product price, and the experience in practical use of the products.
  • Takes timely responsibility for the review of all marketing materials prepared for release in the region to guard their scientific soundness and compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Provides field consultancy with the aim to support sales in the Nordic countries.
  • Builds a network with the international technical managers.


Product support:

  • Ensures an up-to-date scientific information on the highest level possible, including areas of veterinary medicine, science and business, which is achieved by following professional literature, contacts with KOLs and professional societies, participation in symposia and congresses, participation in internal and external trainings, using mentoring and other available sources of knowledge.
  • Creates, in close collaboration with marketing, excellent-quality scientifically accurate promotional material.
  • Follows up on competitive product related intelligence.
  • Initiates and monitors scientific / technical projects in accordance with and with the aim to meet the marketing and commercial plans in the short, mid, and long term.

Compliance

  • Ensures that all activities are in line with compliance and MSD’s code of conduct.


Qualifications

Education: University degree in veterinary medicine.

Skills Required:

  • 5-6 years of work experience in veterinary practice or in Animal Health sector (commercial, scientific or technical)
  • Advanced business acumen and commercial understanding
  • High level of diplomacy, negotiating skills, and constructive assertiveness in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of presentation and scientific writing skills
  • Excellent understanding of marketing and business principles
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and handling conflicting time pressures
  • Swedish and English in excellent written and verbal command


Practical information

This is a full-time position at MSD Animal Health. The position is 100% remote with possibility to work from MSD:s office in Stockholm. It is expected to include 10% travels in the nordic and the desired start date is in August 2023. For this role we are primarily looking for a person that lives in Sweden.
